Can I receive bus schedules via mail?

Answer: Yes. Just call (205) 521-0101 to request a schedule by mail. You can also download the MAX MyStop app on the Google Playstore or the Apple App store.

 

What number can I call to get more information about routes and schedules?

Answer: Please call (205) 521-0101 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. You can also download the MAX MyStop app on the Google Playstore or the Apple App store.

 

What hours are Central Station open?

Answer:
Monday – Friday 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (CST)
Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (CST)
Sunday Closed

 

How can I register for the BJCTA Paratransit/ VIP Service?

Answer: Call (205) 521-9048 for detailed information on qualifications and applications for VIP Service. Please visit our Paratransit page under the Services tab for more information and printable versions of the VIP applications.

 

How do I know which bus to take?

Answer: Route and schedule information is available on MAX Transit’s website or you can call Customer Service for assistance planning your trip at 205-521-0101.

When do MAX Transit buses run?

Answer: Buses run 6 days a week. There is no service on Sunday.

Does the MAX Transit bus have service on holidays?

Answer: There is no bus service on the following days: New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Can I bring my bicycle on the bus?

Answer: Yes. You can put your bike on the rack in front of the bus. There is no additional charge. Buses cannot accommodate mopeds, gas or battery powered motor bikes or scooters of any kind, or tandem bicycles.

I am a senior citizen who is no longer able to drive. Is there transportation available for me?

Answer: Paratransit service (a shared ride service) is available for qualifying individuals who are unable to transport themselves to health care, employment, education, shopping, social activities, or other life-sustaining activities. For eligibility and an application please call 205-521-0161. Fixed route buses​ travel throughout the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas. Half fare is offered for seniors age 65 and over. Buses can kneel to curb level, accommodating passengers with special needs. All buses are equipped with wheelchair ramps. Call customer service at 205-521-0101 for more information.
